What is Mirvaso Gel?
It is proven to treat the facial redness of rosacea (sometimes known as acne rosacea) in adults.
What are the key benefits of Mirvaso Gel?
A clinical trial of over 500 people with moderate to severe facial redness showed that Mirvaso was fast and effective at reducing the redness. Effects were seen within 30 minutes of the first day of treatment. A second clinical trial in 449 patients for 12 months showed that long-term use is both safe and effective.
How does Mirvaso Gel work?
Mirvaso Gel is made in 30g tubes and contains 3mg brimonidine in each gram. Brimonidine is a highly selective alpha2-adrenergic receptor agonist. Applying Mirvaso Gel to the skin causes the veins in the skin to contract, reducing blood flow and redness of the face.
How to use Mirvaso Gel
If you’re considering using Mirvaso Gel, please read the enclosed leaflet carefully before commencing. You should be advised that this gel is only suitable for facial skin. A small pea-sized amount of Mirvaso should be applied smoothly and evenly to the forehead, chin, nose and each cheek. Take care in avoiding the eyes, eyelids, lips, mouth and inside the nose and wash your hands immediately after application.
The treatment can be used in conjunction with other creams, gels and cosmetics, but these must only be applied after the Mirvaso gel has dried.
Mirvaso should not be applied on irritated skin or open wounds and in cases of severe irritation or contact allergy, the gel should not be used.
It must not be used by children under the age of 18 years.
What are the side effects of Mirvaso Gel?
Mirvaso may cause potential side effects. However, not all those taking the treatment will suffer from them.
These can include redness, itching, flushing and a burning sensation on the skin. These have occurred in 1.2 to 3.3% of patients in clinical studies and are typically mild to moderate, so sufferers do not usually need to stop using Mirvaso Gel. These side effects can feel like a worsening of your initial symptoms, but it is impossible to predict if you will experience them.
We recommend that you order just one tube to start with and use the gel on a small area of the face at first. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a refund for the product if you experience this common and documented side effect.
Read the patient leaflet provided in the pack for full details before starting any course of treatment. The leaflet can be found online here.
Book a rosacea consultation through our convenient and confidential Online Doctor service and could lead to Mirvaso being prescribed.

Norethisterone and the contraceptive pill
Women currently taking a contraceptive pill should not use norethisterone to delay their period.
If using the combined contraceptive pill continuing a new packet straight after your last month's packet will delay your period. However, you cannot do this if taking progestogen-only contraceptive pill or a combined pill which contains dummy (non-active) pills at the end of the pill pack. The way to delay your period depends on the type of combined pill you take – read the NHS Choices page How can I delay my period? for further information.
Norethisterone is NOT a contraceptive and will not prevent pregnancy.
What is norethisterone?
Norethisterone is a man-made form of progesterone, a naturally occurring female sex hormone and is used for a number of reasons. It cannot be used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Medium-strength tablets can treat heavy periods and are even used for some female cancers, such as breast cancer.
Norethisterone is no longer under patent and is produced by many pharmaceutical companies.
How does it work?
Norethisterone 5mg tablets can be taken three times daily to delay periods. Start tablets at least 3 days before the start of a period and continue for as long as needed. A period bleed will normally start 2 to 3 days, and possibly longer, after stopping norethisterone.
As a woman's hormone balance changes during her menstrual cycle, taking norethisterone tablets during menstruation will delay a period.
Norethisterone should not be used by women taking the contraceptive pill. Consult your GP or contraception specialist about delaying periods whilst taking contraceptives.
Norethisterone is NOT a contraceptive and will not prevent pregnancy.
For how long should I take norethisterone?
PHARMATOPIA can supply a maximum of 60 tablets to delay a period for up to 17 days. Fewer tablets are required to delay periods for less than 17 days.
Norethisterone is only designed to be taken occasionally and should not be requested more than once every 4 months. If you need to delay a period for more than 17 days, you should consult your GP.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is common. It is not usually caused by low hormone levels. Most men with erectile dysfunction are in reasonable health, although erectile dysfunction may be a symptom of poor circulation or early diabetes. Erectile dysfunction is more common in smokers and men who are overweight. Some medicines including herbal medicines can contribute to ED. Some men with ED have low testosterone levels. Cycling more than 3 hours a day can cause ED.
All men with ED should tell their GPs about it.
Over the last decade medications have revolutionised the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These medications work by enhancing the natural reaction to stimulation, opening up the blood flow needed for erections. Other treatments for ED include topical applications, injections into the penis, surgical devices and counselling.
Types of treatment
Seven different medications are available to buy online from Dr Fox:
No combination of Viagra/sildenafil, Cialis/tadalafil, Levitra, Spedra or other ED treatment should be used at the same time – a break of up to 24 hours (36 hours for Cialis/tadalafil) should be left.
Investigating erectile dysfunction
You should always tell your regular doctor if you are having problems with erections.
Erectile dysfunction can be a symptom of conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or narrowing of the arteries. Some simple tests may be required. A face-to-face assessment with a doctor is particularly important if symptoms develop over a period of weeks or months, or even suddenly, without an emotional event to set them off. Erectile dysfunction can be a complication of previous operations or a side effect of some prescribed medication.
It is best to start with a lower strength tablet and build up as needed (see how to start treatment). One type of tablet sometimes works better than another. You may like to try out different tablets to see which ones suit you best.
Sexual stimulation is required for tablets to work. Without it tablets will have no effect.
You can request more than one type of tablet at a time.
Erectile dysfunction can be distressing and lead to relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression. Your regular doctor may recommend counselling. This may help resolve the cause of erectile dysfunction. In some cases a problem of performance anxiety can be overcome by breaking the cycle of failure with tablet treatments.
Pharmatopia is the name we have given to our online doctor and pharmacy.
At Pharmatopia, you can currently buy many prescription medicines. These medicines arent available to you without a doctors prescription and are therefore more effective than treatments over the counter.
For example, the Hayfever drug Fexofenadine cannot be purchased over the counter, but for £5 you can have a prescription written for it. The medcine prices are displayed clearly on the website, and if you pay online we will post it to you by Royal Mail Tracked post.
Other popular treatments are generic viagra and cialis, which are called sildenafil and tadalafil. The prices of these drugs has dropped and we believe our bulk price for these are the cheapest online.
So, please spread the word. www.pharmatopia.co.uk is a great place to buy prescription strength treatments at the lowest prices online. All with free delivery!
