Benefit
EllaOne is an emergency contraceptive intended to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if your contraceptive method has failed. For example, if you had sex without protection, if the condom splits, slipped or came off, if you forgot to use one or if you did not take your contraceptive pill as recommended.
Pregnancy is not the only outcome from unprotected sex, please ensure you have regular sexual transmitted infection (STIs) checks. These are available from Hive PharmacyWarnings or Restrictions
•EllaOne is for occasional use only. It should in no instance replace a regular contraceptive method. In any case, women should be advised to adopt a regular method of contraception.
•Do not use EllaOne together with another emergency contraceptive pill that contains levonorgestrel. By taking them together, you might make EllaOne less effective, please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you think this relates to you.
•After the use of EllaOne, menstrual periods can sometimes occur a few days earlier or later than expected.
•In case the next menstrual period is more than 7 days late, if the menstrual period is abnormal in character or if there are symptoms suggestive of pregnancy or in case of doubt, a pregnancy test should be performed.
•This medicine contains lactose and sucrose. If you have been previously told by your doctor that you are intolerant to some sugars, seek medical advice prior to taking this medicine.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor before using this medicine if you are currently pregnant, likely to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are currently taking any other medicines as this may cause an interaction.
•If you think you may be allergic to any of the ingredients contained in this medicine, please seek medical advice before taking.

Take one tablet by mouth as soon as possible and no later than 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure
You can take ellaOne at any time of the day either before, during or after a meal
If you vomit within 3 hours of taking ellaOne then take another tablet as soon as possible
